GROWING THE MOST NUTRIENT DENSE VEGETABLES

GROWING THE MOST NUTRIENT DENSE VEGETABLES. The chart is from Dr. Oz, of all people, and you’ll note that, of the first eight items listed, only watercress is difficult to raise. As for the rest of the items, some are easy to grow, some are difficult, and the whole thing depends on which things you like, and how much trouble you’re willing to go to:

Craft-Garden: Grow an Avocado Tree

After you eat an avacado place three toothpicks into the seed, each going in a different direction. Suspend the seed in a cup with the pointed end up, and add water until it covers the bottom of the seed. Place the cup (and seed) in the sun and water it for as many days as necessary to grow one long root. Then remove the toothpicks and plant it in a large pot. In two months, your avacado tree should be 3 feet tall with massive leaves! It's a great home-science project that kids love!!

New Study Suggests Spices May Promote Digestive Health

We stick with Garlic, Cinnamon, Tumeric, Grape Seed, Capsacium and Flax, BUT...I am expanding on this:

New Study Suggests Spices May Promote Digestive Health
According to a new study in Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism, researchers in India found that black pepper, red pepper, ginger, and spice bioactive compounds, piperine and capsaicin (found in black and red pepper, respectively) may positively impact gastrointestinal health. In the study, researchers fed rats doses of dietary spices that were comparable to intake levels in the Indian population. After eight weeks, researchers found that the spices and compounds significantly enhanced antioxidant enzyme activity in the digestive tract – suggesting that these spices may play a role in promoting gastrointestinal health. The spices were also found to protect the digestive tract by suppressing oxidative stress induced by ethanol. The researchers concluded that the spices (due to their antioxidant activity) may offer anti-inflammatory benefits and protect the health of the digestive tract.
